Vinted Members Share Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
